Renewable Energy
DPD provide survey, design and consultancy services for Renewable Energy Solutions such as Wind and Solar Power.
Hallet Wind Farm, Stage 2 The Hallett Hill Wind Farm is important to securing South Australia’s place as a leader in providing sustainable, renewable energy options. The wind farms are just one of the many climate change initiatives which have seen praise come from international leaders and environmentalists alike. Hallett Hill is approximately 200 km north of Adelaide, and an area well suited to AGL’s wind farm developments. Working with Consolidated Power Projects, for AGL, DPD has helped to cement Hallett Hill as an important location for Australia’s wind farm investments.South Australia is now responsible for close to 50% of Australia’s entire wind power capacity, and the Hallett Hill Wind Farm supplies energy to the state’s electricity grid via a series of underground and overhead 33 kV sub-transmission lines. DPD was required to implement the highest level of contemporary engineering and environmental practices in our power line surveys and designs, for power lines to collect the accumulated generated power from the wind farm towers, and deliver it to a new 33/275 kV substation. During the course of this project, our designs saw us create many unique pole top assemblies to suit the specific needs of this project. As wind energy is such a new and fast growing renewable energy source, DPD’s specific designs were created to grow with the increasing supply and demand needs of the Hallett Hill Wind Farm, to maintain its efficiency and environmental sustainability into the future.
Project Overview
Client: DPD was engaged by Consolidated Power Projects for AGL & Suzlon to work on the project. The power line was then constructed by Transfield.
Project Outcomes:The 71MW wind farm is located at Hallett Hill and will had a total development cost of approximately $166m creating 150 jobs during the construction phase of the project. The wind farm provides enough renewable energy to power 40,000 average Australian households and abate approx 250,000 tonnes of CO2.
DPD Outcomes: DPD has now successfully worked on two wind farm projects. Both projects coming in on time and on budget for our components.
